"Life is Good"
December 1 - 8, 2017
C.C.'s Art Garage & Gallery

Reddor Santiago, returning local and emerging artist helps us wrap up the year with a reflection of the Year of the Rooster and celebrate culture and life by presenting his first solo art exhibition with us - Red reminds us that "Life is Good" as we help make his 2017 dreams come true. Learn more about Red and this exhibition with his segment of The S.H.E. Gallery Show - Season II.
"My name is Reddor Santiago, I am a Visual Artist born and raised in Chicago.

The work I create is influenced by my upbringing in Chicago, the value of my family, my Filipino and Chinese culture, and my pondering thoughts from observing the world around me.

"Life is Good" is inspired and dedicated to my mother, whose mantra is just that.

This show is a reflection of what it was like for me to grow up in a first generation Asian American in a community that was prodimanently Latino. My parents left the Phillipines and made sacrifices to provide my siblings and me the opportunity to fulfill our dreams. At a young age, I was exposed to a different culture. I noticed how different humans can be, but I also saw connecting cultural bridges. My art communicates the importance of acknowledging family values by claiming one's roots.

In Chinese culture, there are 12 zodiac animals and my animal is the Rooster, 2017 is the year of the rooster. To honor my Chinese culture, a few of my works include a rooster. This show expresses my succesful efforts, overcome struggles and strength to push through this entire year. I am cultivating my roots as a Fillipino while recognizing my Chinese heritage.

I am thankful for all the people I met who helped me become the arist I am today.

My dreams are coming true. Life is Good."
