"We have started to convene an Arts Council for the IMD; the group has met twice so far this spring. Key partners for this group include Cook County Health, Rush University Medical Center, Urban Prairie School, CAN-TV, ChiCAT, Snow City Arts, Illinois Action for Children, the Julie & Michael Tracy Foundation/Urban Autism Solutions, S.H.E. Gallery and Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. The Arts Council aims to promote opportunities that already exist within the IMD to experience art in all forms, as well as to encourage new collaborative projects. So far there is a lot of excitement around upcoming mural projects in the IMD and the opportunity to organize pop-up events that activate vacant outdoor space." - Allyson Hansen, IMD CEO

We are excited to unveil some new artwork in the IMD. Arts Council member Dulce Maria Diaz, owner of SHE Gallery and Pilsen resident, brought together an amazing group of ten Chicago-style graffiti writers to brighten up the walls of the 2023 W Ogden building. This is a vacant building owned by the IMD that sits prominently at the Ogden/Damen/Polk intersection. The east wall now features a series of pieces based on the theme of the four seasons and the north wall pays homage to the City of Chicago, utilizing the colors of the Chicago flag.
